The YALE CITATIONS

MEET the Citations!
Becca Schelling
BBS
Member since Fall 2023
(she/her)
Becca is a BBS student from New York, which is to say, she has strong opinions on bagels. When she’s not in lab pretending to be a wizard at Hogwarts, she can be found drinking too much coffee, reading, or practicing martial arts. Not necessarily in that order (except the coffee).
Dalton Meyer
Geology & Geophysics
Dalton is a PHD student in the geology department studying paleontology. Meaning he has both the dream job and wardrobe of a first grader. Hailing from the alpine wonderland of Colorado, he is still trying to figure out the best local beer. Otherwise, he can be found looking for new board games to try and listening to too many podcasts.

Devon Finlay
Physics
Member since Fall 2023
(he/him)
Devon is a second year Physics PhD student originally from Ithaca NY. Outside of singing and debugging code, he enjoys spending time outdoors, at Gryphon's, or at home binging TV.
Elizabeth Woo
School of Medicine
Member since Fall 2021
Elizabeth is a proud Midwesterner (from a suburb of Chicago) and a 7th year MD/PhD student studying how we can prevent neurodegeneration. When she is not on the lab struggle bus, she loves learning languages, secretly (not so secretly) loves practicing different accents, singing (anywhere/everywhere), and looking for the best dessert places.
Emily Sorensen
School of Drama
Member since Fall 2019
Emily received her MFA from the School of Drama in May of 2020 and is now back researching a dissertation on ecological art and performance…but spends most of her time frolicking in the woods, working as an environmental educator, climbing, and singing.
Jiwon Yun
Sociology
Member since Fall 2020
(he/him)
Jiwon is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology. He was born in South Korea, but grew up in Sri Lanka where he attended a British school, which means that he is quite a disoriented soul. Starting his program on Zoom did not help much with his already poor coordination. Perhaps, this is why he is very familiar with Yale’s Lockout Assistance. Other than music, Jiwon is very passionate about languages and travel, and hopes to visit at least 25 states before he finishes his degree (13 + DC and counting!).
Jonas Katona
Applied Mathematics
Member since Fall 2023
(he/him)
Jonas is a 4th-year PhD student in the Applied Math Program who hails from the West Coast, USA. (Don't ask him exactly where or you'll have to sit through his entire life story.) Relatedly, he doesn't understand why New Englanders would sacrifice having a liveable summer and winter for having four seasons. When not writing endless amounts of tedious numerical code and mathematical proofs, he spends his free time listening to and writing music, hiking, uploading and curating iNaturalist observations, trying different foods, watching memes and educational content on YouTube, and engaging in discourse on random topics with friends and foes on the internet.
He still has no idea why most of these bios are written in third-person...
Jordan Polster
Microbiology
Member since Fall 2023
(she/her)
Jordan is a first year PhD student in the BBS program in the Microbiology Track. She’s originally from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. When she’s not in lab or singing, she enjoys roller blading, walking and hiking in nature, and traveling and exploring the world whenever she’s able to!
Kevin Evan Pataroque
Environmental Engineering
Member since Fall 2021
(he/him)
Kevin Pataroque is an 3rd year Environmental Engineering Ph.D. student originally from Portland, Oregon. When he's not testing membranes in the lab or making funky percs with the Citations, you might find him running around Connecticut, writing bad poetry, making pencil sketches, or crashing free food events by posing as an undergraduate.
Rohin McIntosh
Physics
Member since Fall 2021
(he/him)
Rohin is a physics PhD student working with high energy lasers and other dangerous electronics. In his free time, he loves practicing the piano, playing badminton, and singing on campus as part of the Citations and the Yale Camerata.
Sam Shipman
Earth and Planetary Sciences
Member since Fall 2021
(he/him)
Sam is a Ph.D. student in Earth and Planetary Sciences studying geochemistry. Originally from northern California, Sam still does not understand the meaning of the word “turnpike” and is thoroughly confused by the extra cold rain that falls during winter. When he’s not in the lab, Sam enjoys hiking/camping, both good and bad movies, and drinking coffee at all hours of the day. He should probably get more sleep.
Shreya Reddy
Law School
Member since Fall 2022
(she/her)
Shreya is a Law School student and a proud Michigander. When she’s not buried in a casebook or singing show tunes, she can be found practicing her tennis forehand, perfecting a cheesecake recipe, or café-hopping in search of some good chai.
